Beyond Expectations uses MEDIA as a venue to teach tangible, marketable LIFE SKILLS that all youth need as they transition to adulthood — and consider college and careers.
What students learn:
- basic film terminology, brainstorm story ideas, hands-on camera instruction
- develop storyline and characters, create storyboards, financial education, budgeting
- digital audio production, sound theory, acoustics, music production
- film shoot & recording session (post-shoot photo session, and interviews)
- planning a film screening, college and career exploration
Upon successful completion of the program, students have an opportunity to see their work in lights during an exclusive Film Screening. A number of our projects have been picked up to air on Media Independence Television (MiND) to an audience of nearly 11 million viewers.
